Description by Kendle Design Collaborative
The Dancing Light house is a comfortable modern home that celebrates nature and captures the 180 degree view of Camelback Mountain. Blessed with a large 3 acre parcel the home is conceived as a collection of related structures, placing the guest house across the main entry court where it becomes a compositional piece of the arrival experience and forms a dialog with the main residence.

Desert form, indigeonous materials, natural light and iconic mountain views insprire this 5600 sf main home and 500 sf guest house. Layered walls of rammed-earth, metal, concrete and glass define various private and open living areas. Providing shelter form the desert sun is a soaring canopy of shifting wood planes whose form appears pulled by the mountain views beyond.

Natural light animates the home, seeping in through carefully articulated gaps between building planes or reflecting off the shimmering pool. This ever-changing light transorms the mood of the home throughout each day, at times dancing across the fractured planes of earth and wood while at other times providing a zen-like sence of calm.
